The member representing Igalamela/Odolu Constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Friday Sani (Makama), has described the State Governor, Capt Idris Ichalla Wada, as a progressive governor who is on the right track to bring development to the state.
Hon Sani who described Capt Wada’s detractors as Abuja-based face-book critics, advised that ‘‘they should come home and see the realities on ground in terms of what the present government has done.’’
The lawmaker made his position known in Lokoja last week in a chat with The Graphic. He noted that the present administration was ready to step on toes to achieve results irrespective of critics’ views.
Recalling that the administration has made tremendous impacts in his constituency by executing Millennium Development Goals projects, the legislator also submitted that the governor has, among other projects in the state, completed those he inherited from his predecessor.
‘‘One thing is to lead the people and another is to put them on the right track. Capt Wada is a progressive and focused leader who is ready to provide necessary infrastructure,’’ he declared.
On internal revenue generation in the state, Hon Makama argued that before the governor was given the rein of authority, there were leakages at the Board of Internal Revenue which he observed had been blocked by the present administration.
Commenting on the recent rumour that there was an impeachment move against the Speaker, Rt Hon Momoh Jimoh Lawal, the lawmaker retorted, ‘‘there was no plan to impeach the Speaker.’’
He clarified that ‘‘there was no crisis in the House but disagreement; and disagreement is allowed in legislative business’’ adding that, ‘‘All Progressives Congress governors wanted to inject crisis into the House but it is not possible to have crisis before the end of this legislative tenure.’’
Hon Sani further shed further light that the disagreement was between the progressive integrity group and conservatives in the House, reiterating that while the progressives wanted a change, the other set believed in their own cause.
He explained that there is no permanent foe in politics, recalling that he was the one that moved a motion before the former Speaker, Hon Abdullahi Bello, was elected to lead the House. ‘‘If the same person moved for change, it should not create enmity,’’ he maintained.
The lawmaker concluded that both the progressives and conservatives are now together.
‘‘We are together now. Today, the entire members of the House appreciate the current Speaker. The conservative members are now progressives. We think alike now.’’
