People working in Government service have been told not to see retirement as the end of life and a stage in life that should come with doubt and concern.
Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, gave the advice at the send forth ceremony for some officers who retired, and for another who was promoted and transferred from the Deputy Governor’s office.
The Deputy Governor used the occasion to call on workers in the state civil service whom he described as the engine room of government to rededicate themselves towards ensuring optimum service delivery for the present government of Kogi State.
Awoniyi described the State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada as a hard-working and untiring leader, whose drive and quest for performance is uncommon. He called on those in the State Government Service to put in their best to justify the huge government investment on the service.
The State Deputy Governor urged workers in the Deputy Governor’s office to be sticklers for performance. He also called on them to put in their best in the service of the State and their fatherland, by being ambassadors of the excellent quality of work they do.
While praying joy, happiness and good health for Mrs. Awoniyi Rebecca, Pa Mohammed Yusuf who retired, and Raji Usman who was promoted a Director and posted to the State Ministry of Information, he urged them to see their retirement and promotion as a period that is most rewarding to their lives.
In their separate remarks, the Permanent Secretary Administration & Parastatals, Mr. Abraham Adavi, that of Political Affairs Alhaji Aliyu Lawal Jiya and the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Deputy Governor, Prince Richard Akanmode showered commendation on the out-going staff for their diligence and hard work while serving in the Office of the Deputy Governor and wished them well in their future endeavors.
Speaking on behalf of the out going staff, Mrs. Rebecca Awoniyi expressed joy at the encomium showered on them, promising to still give their best to the State even in retirement.
Highlight of the ceremony was a personal cash donation of One Hundred Thousand Naira to each of the out-going staff by the Deputy Governor, as well as presentation of gifts by staff of the office of the Deputy Governor.
