The highly agitated Omala Youth have kicked against the continued political leadership of the embattled duo of Aminu Atabor, Liaison Officer 1 of Omala Local Government and Alih Ajuh, the Commissioner for Commerce in Kogi State.
It will be recalled that Alih Ajuh and Atabor were arraigned in a Lokoja Magistrate Court for charges ranging from criminal conspiracy, attempted culpable homicide, armed robbery, causing grievous hurt, public disturbance, thuggery, kidnapping and illegal possession of firearms.
According to a leading group, The Omala Youth Network, Aminu Atabor and Alih Ajuh have mobilised some compromised elders to Abuja to come beg the former Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris (popularly referred to as Ibro) to help sustain the continuous imposition on the Omala people.
“We are all aware of their criminal activities that has brought enormous disgrace and hurt to the people of Omala.
“We are also aware that the state government may have given ear to our earlier plea not to allow them continue in office. Our information also contains the fact that they have gone back to the former governor to help them impress it on the present governor to make them continue in office.
The youth group claim they have the backing of responsible leaders from Omala to stand and resist the return of ‘criminals’ to the leadership of Omala.
“We want to state that we are completely embarrassed by the criminal acts of these duo”, they lamented.
“We appeal to Gov. Idris Wada to please help restore the dignity and peaceful nature that Omala people have been known for before the advent of these two people into the political space of Omala LG.
“Please Governor, your government will witness a continuous and embarrassing unpopularity in Omala Local Government if you allow these people continue in your government”
“We also want to warn that should our plea is not heeded, we also have the support of our elders and ancestors to continue to lay down our dear lives for the survival of our dear land and to also uphold its sanctity.
“We suggest that a neutral person be appointed to head our Local Government who will midwife the election of a popular and democratic chairman.
