The Obidient Movement in Kogi State has condemned what it called the impersonation of its leadership by a woman identified as Mrs Blessing Martins, who is reported to have claimed to be the movement’s Women Leader in the state.

In a statement issued Saturday and signed by its General Spokesperson, Emmanuel Idakwo, the movement said it would not tolerate the unauthorised assumption of leadership positions or the use of its name to mislead the public.

The statement urged people who hold no official position in its leadership structure to stop presenting themselves as representatives of the movement. It also warned against using the movement’s identity for personal publicity or to lend credibility to what it described as blackmail, misinformation and propaganda.

The movement said it remained united and committed to its mission of rescuing Nigeria and building a country that works for all, adding that its vision of a “New Nigeria” was unwavering.

The statement also dismissed what it called false and misleading claims about a town hall meeting attended by former presidential candidate Peter Obi. It described the gathering as highly successful.

The movement urged Nigerians to disregard what it called ongoing attempts to undermine it through blackmail and propaganda, and to seek the truth instead. It called on supporters and members of the public to remain vigilant and steadfast, and warned against efforts to sow division in its ranks.

The movement said it would not be distracted by misinformation or intimidation, and that its commitment to national transformation remained resolute.

“A New Nigeria Remains Possible,” the statement concluded.

Mrs Martins could not immediately be reached for comment.
