The Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All (CSACEFA), Kogi State Chapter, has called on the Kogi State Government and other education stakeholders to prioritise teachers’ welfare, strengthen recruitment and retention, and protect the dignity of the teaching profession.

The call was made in a press statement marking World Teachers’ Day 2026, signed by the Chapter’s State Coordinator, Deacon Abaniwo Ciwon Nathaniel. In it, the coalition expressed solidarity with teachers across Kogi State and Nigeria.

CSACEFA described teachers as the backbone of every strong and sustainable education system. It noted that they inspire, nurture and guide learners, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, values and confidence to contribute meaningfully to society.

The coalition acknowledged the dedication, resilience and sacrifices of teachers, often made under challenging circumstances. It stressed that quality, inclusive and equitable education cannot be achieved without teachers who are motivated, professionally supported and adequately resourced.

This year’s World Teachers’ Day theme is “Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures.” CSACEFA said it is a reminder that teachers deserve more than appreciation on a single day.

According to the coalition, they deserve respect and protection, decent working conditions and adequate remuneration, continuous professional development and career opportunities, and a meaningful voice in decisions affecting their profession and the education system.

The coalition urged the Government of Kogi State, education authorities and stakeholders to prioritise teachers’ welfare, strengthen teacher recruitment and retention, invest in continuous professional development, provide safe, conducive learning and working environments, and uphold the dignity and professional status of teachers.

CSACEFA also encouraged teachers to continue upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and commitment to the learners in their care.

Speaking on behalf of the Chapter, Deacon Nathaniel affirmed the importance of the profession. “Your work matters. Your sacrifice matters. Your voice matters. Your profession matters,” the statement said, adding that teachers’ impact “extends far beyond the classroom.” He wished all teachers a happy World Teachers’ Day.

The Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to advocating quality, inclusive, equitable and accessible education for all in Kogi State, while standing with teachers and promoting the dignity and advancement of the profession.
