Kogi East senatorial hopeful, Dr. Joseph Ameh Erico, has reaffirmed his commitment to faith based organisations, women empowerment and community development, describing them as critical pillars for sustainable growth and social progress.

Chief Erico stated this at the 16th anniversary celebration of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), Ankpa Deanery, where he joined members of the Catholic faithful in commemorating the group’s years of service, spiritual growth and contributions to the development of communities across the Catholic Diocese of Idah.

Speaking during the event, he commended the Catholic Diocese of Idah and its Bishop, Most Rev. Anthony Adaji, MSP, for providing spiritual leadership and promoting peace, unity and harmony across Igala land.

According to him, religious institutions and women groups continue to play indispensable roles in nation building, moral development and grassroots mobilisation, stressing that greater support should be given to initiatives that strengthen families and communities.

In a demonstration of his support for the Church and community development efforts, Erico announced financial interventions totaling ₦11.5 million for various projects and programmes within the deanery.

The support package included ₦7 million to the Catholic Women Organisation to facilitate the commencement of its proposed flagship development project, ₦3 million to the Catholic Diocese of Idah for diocesan programmes, ₦1 million for the welfare of priests within the deanery, and an additional ₦500,000 to Rev. Fr. DoBon in support of his ministry.

Leaders of the Catholic Women Organisation expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a reflection of Chief Erico’s longstanding support for faith based initiatives and women centred development programmes.

Prayers were later offered for peace, unity and continued progress across the land, with participants commending the collaboration between religious institutions and community leaders in advancing development and social cohesion.
