The leader of the Workplace Campaign Team and Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka, has urged civil servants in the state to remain resolute in supporting the administration, declaring that there is no justification to alter a winning team.
Speaking on Monday to staff at the Lokoja Local Government Secretariat during the final leg of the team’s sensitisation tour, Comrade Edoka called on the workforce to ensure the re-election of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to safeguard job security and sustain improved welfare packages.
Addressing the gathering, the Special Adviser stated that the era of pervasive poverty among workers in the state was over, cautioning against actions that could revert the civil service to previous hardships. He noted that the most effective way to preserve current gains is through decisive support at the polls for the present leadership, which has consistently prioritized workers’ well-being.

“If care is not taken, those who are not supposed to be fishermen will be fishermen, and those who are not supposed to be begging will turn to beggars, saying rankadede,” Edoka warned. “You are all looking good because the Governor is doing well and paying attention to workers’ welfare. The Governor has proved to be Labour-friendly because he was a worker himself. Look at the number of former Labour leaders appointed into his administration; this is heartwarming and should be celebrated.”
Edoka explained that the workplace security campaign was designed to build awareness and ensure complete freedom and safety for workers, charging them to remain upright in their political choices.
Corroborating his views, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Gabriel Amari, emphasized that the security tips provided during the tour were meant to safeguard local government personnel amid national security challenges. He commended Governor Ododo for his proactive measures against insecurity and urged civil servants to reciprocate the gesture through continued loyalty.
In his welcome remarks, the Director of Local Government (DLG) for Lokoja, Alhaji Aliyu Musa Omuwa, expressed appreciation for the exercise, stating that extensive campaigning was unnecessary at the local level given the Governor’s visible achievements. He lauded Comrade Edoka’s sincerity of service and appealed for proper mobilization of workers during election periods to ease logistics.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in the area, Comrade Abdulmumuni Jibrin, speaking on behalf of affiliate unions, passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ododo’s administration. While promising massive electoral support, Jibrin commended the campaign team for its positive impact and urged the Special Adviser to assist in resolving lingering operational challenges facing local workers.
