How an Average Kogi Youth Becomes a Politician’s Lab Rat Every Election Season

INEC has just released the final list of senatorial candidates for all registered political parties in Kogi State. The journey to the 2027 elections has officially begun, and very soon, political campaigns will start physically and openly

This is the time when the youths who have been abandoned for four years will suddenly become important again. Leaders who never picked your calls, ignored your messages, and left your chats unread will suddenly find their phones and begin calling to check on you, na lie its all strategy.

Dear Kogi State youths, let me remind you of something in case you’ve already  forgotten. Federal Government jobs appointment letters have been flying around for over a month now, yet many of you and your siblings are not among the beneficiaries not because you are not qualified, but because you are not considered close enough to your political masters

Appointments as Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants to Governor Ododo are announced almost every day. Yet, you are constantly advised to keep clapping for others while being told to leave your own destiny in God’s hands

It is time to use your tongue to count your teeth.

Be bold enough to say “NO” to any leader when necessary. As much as possible, create something for yourself, no matter how small. Stop embracing the suffering and smiling mentality. Get to work. Learn a skill, build a business, develop yourself, and create value though I know it’s not just easy out there

When your presence is not valued, let them feel your absence.

Do not allow anyone to use you as a lab rat again during this election season, the choice is yours.

Remember this! Many politicians have wives and children who are active on social media just like you. Yet, you hardly see their husbands’ or fathers’ campaign posters all over their walls. Instead, they post birthday celebrations, inauguration pictures, and family achievements.

Campaigns are largely designed to mobilize the common man, while inaugurations are often reserved for politicians, close allies, families, and friends. Seem funny but hard truth

No politician is worth dying for. Play your politics with wisdom, protect your future, and always remember that your life is bigger than any political ambition.

Kogi youths, this time, let us make informed choices. Every deserves a better life
