The Senator representing Kogi West, Sunday Karimi, has fulfilled the promise he made at the palace of the Maigari of Lokoja on 24th August, 2026, ahead of the Townhall Meeting organized for the Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency.
The Senator had pledged to provide five industrial boreholes, in addition to the 22 solar-powered boreholes he had sunk across the local government. The number, however, rose to seven.
Senator Karimi lamented the acute water shortage in Lokoja, the state capital, and to cushion the effect, he noted that he made it a duty to provide water tankers during the holy month of Ramadan this year. And on the day of his visit to the Maigari’s palace, he announced that plans were afoot to sink five industrial boreholes within one-month execution and completion target. He said the industrial borehole projects would be funded by a federal government agency under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
He pointed out that the industrial boreholes are an improvement on the solar-powered.
While a solar-powered borehole is defined by its power source (sunlight via photovoltaic panels), an industrial borehole is defined by its heavy-duty scale, larger diameter casing, and massive water yield, relyying more on the electrical grid and diesel generators.
Within 5 days of his statement, the construction of the boreholes commenced. Fortunately for the people of Lokoja, the number has now increased to seven, instead of the five the Senator earlier promised.
It will be recalled that a total of 22 solar-powered motorized boreholes had been completed in Lokoja LGA by Senator Karimi.
This effort is expected to bring succor and relief, especially to the beneficiary communities.
The Senator reaffirmed his commitment to facilitating as many available projects as possible for the people of Kogi West, with the aim of making life more bearable and comfortable for all. He charged all Kogi Westerners to mobilize people in their numbers to reelect president Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections for constinuity of good governance and quality leadership.
