Dr. Toyosi Akure has been unanimously affirmed as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Yagba West II Constituency in the forthcoming State House of Assembly election.
His emergence followed the absence of any opposing aspirant at the party’s primary election, which ended with party members and stakeholders rallying behind his candidacy.
Speaking to party faithful and supporters in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, after his affirmation, Akure expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him and called for unity among members as the party moves into the next phase of its campaign.
He said his emergence was not a personal victory but a collective responsibility to secure a better future for the people of the constituency.
Akure urged party members and supporters to close ranks and work together towards the success of the ADC at the general election.
He described the absence of opposition during the primary as a reflection of the level of consensus within the party, saying the development presented an opportunity to consolidate the existing unity and strengthen the party’s structures across the constituency.
The ADC candidate said his campaign would focus on issues affecting the people, effective representation, sustainable development and inclusive governance.
He also called on party leaders, women, youths and other stakeholders to take ownership of the campaign, stressing that victory at the general election would require the collective efforts of all members and supporters.
Akure expressed confidence that a united party structure, coupled with the support of the people, would position the ADC for victory in Yagba West II Constituency.
He thanked the party leadership, delegates and supporters for the confidence placed in him and pledged to justify their trust through dedicated service, effective representation and responsible leadership.
The affirmation marks the beginning of the ADC’s mobilisation and campaign activities ahead of the State House of Assembly election, with Akure set to lead the party’s bid to represent the people of Yagba West II Constituency.
