The Provost of Kogi State College of Nursing Sciences, Obangede (KGSCONSO), Dr. James Anaza Duro Joseph, has reaffirmed the College’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS) in promoting tax compliance and improving revenue administration through the newly introduced Central School Billing System.
The Provost made this known while receiving the management team of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, led by its Executive Chairman, Dr. Sule Salihu Ehene, at the College’s Conference Room in Obangede.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Ehene commended the visionary leadership of the Provost, noting the remarkable transformation the College has witnessed since his assumption of office. He described the institution as one that has continued to record significant achievements in academic excellence, institutional growth, and infrastructural development.
The KGIRS Executive Chairman explained that the newly introduced Central School Billing System is a unified digital platform designed for all state-owned tertiary institutions in Kogi State. According to him, the initiative is aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and efficiency in revenue collection and management, while simplifying billing processes and strengthening financial accountability across institutions.
Dr. Ehene also presented the newly developed Kogi State Tax Law Book to the College, describing it as a comprehensive reference document intended to enhance tax education, encourage voluntary tax compliance, and improve stakeholders’ understanding of the state’s tax laws and regulations.
In his response, Dr. James Anaza Duro Joseph expressed profound appreciation to the KGIRS management for the courtesy visit and commended the cordial and productive relationship that has continued to exist between the College and the agency.
He described the introduction of the Central School Billing System as a timely and innovative initiative that would significantly enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in institutional revenue management. While acknowledging the benefits of the new system, the Provost also highlighted some of the revenue-related challenges facing the College and proposed practical areas of collaboration through which both institutions could work together to improve internally generated revenue, strengthen tax compliance, and ensure seamless implementation of the new billing platform.
As a mark of mutual respect and the enduring partnership between both institutions, the visit featured an exchange of souvenirs between the management of Kogi State College of Nursing Sciences, Obangede, and the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service.
The meeting was attended by principal officers of the College, including: Mr. Isaqu Hussain, College Registrar; Mr. Musa Okatewn, College Librarian; Mr. Alhassan Kayode, College Bursar; Nurse Omeiza Lea, Deputy Provost (Academic) and Engr. Musa Salawu, Director of Works and Physical Planning.
Officials of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service were also present.
