AMAPRO 2026 zooms to quarterfinal with titanic fixtures set to thrill football fans in Ilorin

The stage is officially set for an explosive knockout phase at the 2026 AMAPRO Football Championship after a grueling and unpredictable group stage encounter.

The Main Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium in Ilorin will come alive on Friday, July 10, as the final eight teams battle for a spot in the prestigious semifinals.

While new contenders like Laycon FA, Dohz FC and Dickalo FC emerged, the tournament also witnessed shocking casualties as former champions NPFL Allstars and Abraysports FC both failed to survive the group stages.

Defending champions House of Prayers Football Academy successfully navigated Group A to keep their title defense alive, finishing as runners-up with five points.

They face a monumental challenge in the quarterfinals against a high-flying Laycon FA side that topped Group B after going unbeaten with seven points by 10am.

Meanwhile, last year’s runners-up, Discovery Football Academy from Kebbi State proved their pedigree by comfortably dominating Group D to finish at the summit with seven points.

Discovery FA will now square off against tournament hosts Amapro SSA, who edged into the knockout rounds as the second-placed team from Group C coming by 4pm.

The opening match of the day kicks off at 8am featuring a fierce clash between Group A leaders Dickalo FC and a resilient Dohz FC side.

Later in the afternoon, Group C winners Gaa Akanbi FC will lock horns with Blinz FC at 2pm in what promises to be a highly tactical encounter.

With all four matches taking place on the same day, football fans in Ilorin are guaranteed a spectacular festival of grassroots football at its absolute finest.

The semifinal will be decided on Saturday while the grand final will come up on Sunday at the same venue.
