….Calls on Citizens to Take Part in Ongoing Voter Registration Exercise

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has called on all indigenous sons and daughters of the State to take advantage of the ongoing Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) registration and update exercise being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The senator made the appeal in a public awareness message aimed at encouraging eligible voters across the state to register and obtain their PVCs before the official deadline of July 10, 2026.

According to her, the PVC remains the most powerful tool through which citizens can participate in the democratic process and determine the future direction of the country.

“I urge all Kogi State indigenous sons and daughters, especially our youths and first-time voters, to participate actively in the ongoing PVC registration exercise. Your vote remains your voice and your voice matters in shaping the future of our communities, our state, and our nation,” she said.

The lawmaker stressed the importance of ensuring that every eligible citizen is registered and prepared to exercise their constitutional right during future elections.

“No responsible citizen should be left out of the electoral process. Those who have attained voting age should register immediately, while those whose voter information requires correction or updating should take advantage of the ongoing exercise before the deadline,” she added.

She further encouraged community leaders, parents, youth groups and civil society organizations to mobilize residents and create awareness about the registration exercise across the state.

“I call on families, friends, community associations, and stakeholders across Kogi State to encourage one another to register. Democracy thrives when citizens participate actively. A PVC is not just a card; it is a symbol of your right to determine the future you desire.”

She reiterated that widespread voter registration would strengthen democratic participation and ensure that the voices of Kogi people are adequately represented in future elections.

The senator’s appeal comes as INEC continues its nationwide PVC registration and update exercise, with eligible Nigerians encouraged to register, update their details where necessary, and obtain their voter cards before the closing date of July 10, 2026. She emphasized that active participation in the registration process would help strengthen democracy and ensure that the voices of Kogi people are heard in future elections.
