Kogi United Football Club has secured a place in the Nigeria National League (NNL) promotional playoff after topping the Abuja Center in the 2026 NLO season.
Their playoff qualification was confirmed by the latest table published on the official Nationwide League One website, following a 3-0 win over Calgary Football Academy in their final match at Area 3 Pitch B, Garki, Abuja.
Kogi United kicked off the 2026 NLO season in strong form, with key results including: 3-0 win over Fosla FC, 2-0 win over Legacy Stars FC, 3-2 win against Bussdor FC, 0-0 draw with Anglican FC, 2-2 draw against A.A FC, 6-0 win over Beautiful Tour FC, another 2-0 win over Legacy Stars FC, and a 3-0 win over Calgary Football Academy to close the season.

The club spent three years in the Nationwide League One after relegation at the end of the 2022/2023 NNL season, finishing bottom of Group A1.
With the 3-0 victory over Calgary Football Academy, Kogi United will now compete in the NNL playoff for a place in the 2026/27 campaign.
Media Officer for Kogi United FC, Emmanuel Abuh, said the efforts of the players, technical crew, and management team secured the playoff ticket.
“This achievement comes under the leadership of Team Manager Mr. Michael Itodo Olachene, who inherited the side in relegation barely a year ago.
“Worthy of note, Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, provided key support and tireless efforts that helped the team achieve this feat.

“Hon. Anyebe did not give up on the team because he believed in the ability of the entire team to deliver an excellent season, and all thanks to God, Kogi United Football Club lived up to expectations. They have done the Commissioner’s Office and the entire state proud,” he said.
