The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has selected Hon. Bambu Tanko Ali as its consensus candidate for the Lokoja I State Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 Kogi State House of Assembly election.

Ali emerged following consultations among the party’s four aspirants, who were given the opportunity to deliberate and reach an internal agreement on a consensus candidate.

At the end of the consultation process, the three other aspirants stepped down and declared their support for Ali, paving the way for his emergence as the party’s standard-bearer.

The primary election was held at the Lokoja residence of party leader and former senator, Tunde Ogbeha, under the supervision of party leaders and stakeholders from across Lokoja I Constituency.

Speaking shortly after his emergence, Hon. Ali expressed appreciation to his co-contestants for their maturity and sportsmanship during the process.

“I want to use this medium to appreciate my co-aspirants for their sportsmanship and support. I will justify the confidence reposed in me,” he said.

Addressing the electorate, the ADC candidate assured constituents of effective representation if elected.

“To the good people of Lokoja I State Constituency, you will not regret voting for ADC and my candidacy,” he added.

Ali’s emergence is expected to reshape the political contest for the Lokoja I Assembly seat, with observers noting that the race for the constituency has now formally begun in earnest.

Political analysts believe the ADC’s consensus approach may strengthen party unity ahead of the election, while positioning Hon. Bambu Tanko Ali as a formidable contender in the forthcoming legislative contest.
