Ahead of 2027 general elections, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Suberu Yusuf John, has officially declared his intention to vie for the Adavi/Okehi federal constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
Dr. Suberu, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi on Road Safety Matters, declared his ambition at a colourful event in Ege, Adavi local government area of Kogi state, on Wednesday.
He pledged to carry the voice of Adavi/Okehi to Abuja with courage and determination if given the opportunity to serve.

He promised to focus on security, women and youth empowerment, education, infrastructure, and effective representation.
“Our youth are our greatest asset. I will pursue employment opportunities, training programmes, and entrepreneurship support for our young people.
“No child should lose their future because their parents cannot afford it. I will support scholarships and improve access to quality education.
“Roads, water, electricity, and healthcare are basic necessities. I will actively pursue federal interventions to bring these developments to our constituency,” he promised.
He commended leaders of the All Progressives Congress for the time, energy and other resources they have invested in building a great and formidable party. However, he appealed to APC leaders to look beyond politics and see the real lives of the people.
“When the time comes to choose our candidate, I humbly appeal to you: Choose someone who will truly represent the people. Choose someone who will remain accessible after the election. Choose someone who understands the pain and hopes of Adavi and Okehi. Our people deserve leadership that is compassionate, committed, and accountable,” he said.
To further demonstrate his commitment to the constituency, Dr. Suberu awarded 40 scholarships to students from Adavi and Okehi LGAs.
He also distributed food items to 1,500 people and provided financial support to 100 individuals.
Dr. Suberu distributed mobile phones to some beneficiaries to help them connect and participate in today’s global world.

In an opening speech, the Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Electronic Media, Hon. Yusuf Ohiare, said Dr. Suberu’s declaration marks the beginning of a journey toward purposeful representation, inclusive development, and people-centered leadership.
“Hon. Subaru Yusuf John is not new to service. He is a man whose track record speaks of dedication, compassion, and commitment to the welfare of our people. His vision is clear—to be a strong voice for Adavi/Okehi at the National Assembly, to attract meaningful development, and to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every ward, every community, and every household,” Hon. Ohiare said.
The immediate past Council Leader of Adavi Local Government and Local Special Adviser to the Kogi State Government, Hon. Abdulmalik Fatimat, commended Dr. Suberu for the remarkable work he has been doing across their communities.
“Your unwavering commitment to empowerment programs, your generous scholarship initiatives for students, and your continuous support to orphans and the less privileged have brought relief, dignity, and renewed hope to many families.
“You have clearly demonstrated that true leadership is not merely about holding office, but about impacting lives and uplifting communities.
“Many of our youths have been positively transformed through your empowerment initiatives. Numerous students who once faced uncertainty in their educational pursuits can now continue with confidence because of your scholarship programs.
“Most importantly, you have extended compassion to the most vulnerable among us: the orphans and the less privileged, restoring their sense of belonging and giving them hope for a brighter future.
“For these noble contributions, the people of Ege-Iruvochinomi Ward and Adavi Local Government remain deeply grateful.
“Today, we proudly and wholeheartedly pledge our unreserved support for your aspiration to represent us in the Federal House of Representatives.”
