Investigations into the report of the purported vote of no confidence passed in the Senator representing Kogi West Sunday Karimi allegedly by the Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward Chairmen in Yagba West Local Government Area, Kogi State is a ruse that did not happen—an attempted deception, a failed trick, and a plot to pitch the senator against Kogi State Government but which did not actually materialize.

Multiple sources in the APC in the local government said no such meeting took place. The sources also said there is no evidence in sight that the forum was carried along in the draft of any communique issued or with its consent.

The sources went further to state that the photograph attached to the “fake news” was taken during the inauguration of the newly elected Ward Chairmen about three weeks ago, as there was no any recent official gathering of the forum.

“Findings showed that no such meeting took place and nothing like the passing of a vote of confidence or not on anyone. There was no such meeting where a vote of no confidence was passed on the performing Senator of Kogi West senatorial District, Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, let alone a communique issued. To the best of my knowledge, the picture on the purported press release or meeting was that of the day of the inauguration at the Yagba West APC party Secretariat, Odo-Ere,”, revealed a chieftain of APC in Yagba West.

Reiterating that the plot was hatched by desperate politicians within the party to create the impression that the move was at the instance of the state leadership ostensibly to cause rifts between Senator Karimi and the government of Alhaji Usman Ododo, the party chieftain who spoke on condition of anonymity stated: “The removal of delegates and executives from the process of electing candidates as a result of the newly amended electoral act has rendered many out of delegates business enterprise and hence the new methods of survival. At least the coordinators of this foolishness would have cashed out while the agents must have gotten their cut.

“Interestingly, the particular picture these desperate politicians are peddling was taken on the day the party executives were inaugurated, about two three weeks ago. No such meeting or any meeting at all was held.

“These desperate politicians are trying really hard to blackmail innocent party executives under the veil of politics of bitterness and desperation but the people of Yagba West who understand and value the quality representation given them by Senator Sunday Karimi are already standing up in solidarity with the senator and demanding the retraction of the offensive report by its sponsors.”

The ward Chairmen were not available for comment at the time of this report.
