Hon. Musa Olumayowa Yakubu (MOY) has appealed to government at all levels to urgently come to the aid of residents of Egbeda-Egga and other communities in Ijumu Local Government Area recently devastated by a heavy rainstorm.
He expressed deep concern over reports that close to one hundred houses were either destroyed or badly damaged by the storm, leaving many families without shelter and exposing them to serious hardship.
In a statement on Sunday, MOY specifically called on the Kogi state government and the Ijumu local government council to come to the rescue of people that were rendered homeless and had their sources of income destroyed by the rainstorm.

According to him, the situation in the affected communities calls for immediate intervention, as several victims have lost their roofs, properties, and means of livelihood. He stressed that the affected families are currently in urgent need of relief materials such as roofing sheets, food items, clothing, and other basic necessities to help them cope with the aftermath of the disaster.
While sympathizing with the victims, MOY called on government, emergency management agencies, community leaders, and other well-meaning Nigerians to quickly mobilize support for the affected communities.
He also urged notable sons and daughters of Ijumu, philanthropists, and public-spirited individuals to extend helping hands to the victims in order to ease their suffering and assist them in rebuilding their homes.
MOY noted that natural disasters such as this require collective response and compassion, emphasizing that timely intervention would go a long way in restoring hope to the affected families.
He assured the people of Egbeda-Egga and other impacted communities of his solidarity and prayers, while expressing hope that the relevant authorities would act swiftly to provide the much-needed relief and support.
