A former acting Governor of Kogi state, Chief Clarence Olafemi, has cautioned members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against anti-party activities.

Speaking with journalists in Lokoja on Monday, Chief Olafemi advanced reasons why the next House of Representative position for Yagba federal constituency should be allowed to come from Mopamuro in the interest of equity, fairness and justice.

He noted that current rep member, Hon. Leke Abejide from Yagba East, has occupied the position twice concurrently under African Democratic Congress (ADC), after Yagba West has had their fair share of representation at the national assembly.

Chief Olafemi, who is also the former Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, pointed out that five local government chairmen of APC from Kogi west canvassing for Abejide to re-contest amount to anti-party activities.

“Leke Abejide has done two tenure, he should also support the agitation that the position move to another area. Hon. Faniyi who is from the same place with Leke occupied the position once while Leke Abejide have enjoyed it twice, making it thrice from the same area, so let it move to Mopa-muro who only occupied the position once”.

“Yagba federal constituency consists of Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro. Both Yagba East and Yagba West have enjoyed their share of representation at the National Assembly. It is now the turn of Mopamuro to produce the next House of Representative,” he said.

He cautioned against encouraging anti-party activities within APC.

“We are appealing to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, not to have hand in that type of atrocities against APC in the state.

“Those who stood by the party when the party did not have base, but they stay in the party and build it, and nurture it to the stage and level the party has reached today should be giving chance to contest and win elections in the spirit of fairness and inclusiveness” he stated.

Speaking further, the former governor, said anti-party is not limited to any categories of membership, stressing that anti-party at the executive level posed danger to the party.
