The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) led by Ambassador Isah Onimisi Babangida, has commended President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for what it described as unprecedented infrastructural transformation across the Federal Capital Territory.

Following a three-day comprehensive inspection tour of key infrastructure projects executed across the six Area Councils of the FCT, the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria issued a communiqué to brief the Nigerian public and relevant stakeholders on its findings, observations, and resolutions.

The inspection tour, which covered Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Abaji, and Kwali Area Councils, was undertaken to independently assess the scope, quality, spread, and impact of infrastructure projects executed by the Honourable Minister within the last one year.

The Council expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as foresight and political courage in appointing Nyesom Wike as Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, noting that the appointment has translated into visible governance outcomes across the FCT.

The NYCN stated that its observations during the tour revealed a balanced and inclusive infrastructure strategy, with deliberate attention given not only to the Abuja city centre but also to satellite towns and rural communities across all six Area Councils.

As part of the inspection across the Area Councils, the Council visited and assessed key infrastructural projects executed or advanced within the last one year. In Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), it observed the construction and rehabilitation of major arterial and district roads linking Wuye, Mabushi, Jahi, Garki, and the Central Area. It also noted ongoing works on the Inner and Outer Southern Expressways and connecting service roads, as well as streetlight rehabilitation and solar lighting projects across major corridors, alongside engineering infrastructure works including drainage and sewer systems.

In Bwari Area Council, the delegation inspected the rehabilitation and construction of township and rural access roads, upgrades of public schools and basic educational infrastructure, and improved road connectivity to surrounding communities.

In Gwagwalada Area Council, the Council inspected road construction and rehabilitation projects linking major communities and markets, upgrades of public facilities and community infrastructure, as well as ongoing satellite town road expansion projects.

In Kuje Area Council, it inspected construction and rehabilitation of feeder and access roads, drainage and erosion control projects, and community-focused urban renewal initiatives.

In Abaji Area Council, the Council inspected rural road projects aimed at improving access to far-flung communities and observed public infrastructure upgrades designed to enhance economic activities.

In Kwali Area Council, it observed road construction projects connecting agrarian communities to major highways, inspected improvements in public schools and social infrastructure, and noted the expansion of basic infrastructure to support rural development.

The Council also observed that the quality of execution, speed of delivery, and geographical spread of these projects reflect strong leadership, effective supervision, and prudent resource management by the Honourable Minister.

In its resolutions, the National Youth Council of Nigeria commended Hon. Minister Nyesom Wike for what it described as exceptional performance, hands-on leadership style, and unwavering commitment to infrastructural renewal in the FCT, stating that his approach has significantly restored public confidence in government-led development.

In recognition of these achievements, the NYCN thus formally declared Hon. Minister Nyesom Wike as the Best Performing Minister in the current administration and resolved to present him with a Certificate of Commendation in honour of his outstanding service to the nation.

The Council also respectfully appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to grant the Honourable Minister greater access to funds and institutional support to enable him consolidate existing projects and expand the scope of infrastructure delivery across the FCT, expressing confidence that additional resources would further accelerate development and deepen the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The NYCN reiterated its commitment to supporting accountable leadership, promoting excellence in governance, and amplifying development efforts that positively impact Nigerian youths and communities, stating that the transformation witnessed across the FCT stands as evidence that effective leadership yields tangible results.

The communiqué was issued at the conclusion of the three-day inspection tour of infrastructure projects across the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory and was signed by Comrade Babangida Onimisi Isah, President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria.
