The Omadoko Association hereby issues this press statement to reaffirm our firm position that the time has come for Idah Local Government Area to produce the Senator representing Kogi East in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
Since the return of democracy in 1999, the senatorial seat of Kogi East has rotated within certain parts of the district, while Idah Local Government—despite its historic, cultural, and political significance—has remained largely marginalized in the distribution of this critical representation. Idah, the cradle of the Igala Kingdom and home to the revered Attah stool, has contributed immensely to the political stability, unity, and electoral strength of Kogi East and indeed Kogi State. Yet, when it comes to occupying the highest legislative office zoned to our district, Idah has consistently been overlooked.
This persistent imbalance contradicts the principles of fairness, inclusion, and equity which form the bedrock of our democratic system. Kogi East is made up of diverse and vibrant local governments, and justice demands that every part be given a fair opportunity to serve and represent our collective interests at the National Assembly.
The Omadoko Association believes strongly that zoning and rotation are not mere political slogans; they are instruments for peace, unity, and balanced development. When one area dominates representation for decades, it breeds resentment and weakens the spirit of collective ownership. Conversely, when leadership opportunities are fairly distributed, it strengthens solidarity and deepens democratic participation.
Idah Local Government is not asking for charity. We are demanding fairness. We are asserting our rightful place in the political equation of Kogi East. The people of Idah have demonstrated unwavering loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and have consistently delivered electoral victories for the party at all levels. It is only just that the party reciprocates this loyalty by supporting a credible and competent candidate from Idah to represent Kogi East in the Senate come 2027.
In this regard, the Omadoko Association proudly presents Hon. Hilary Edime Ahmodu as our consensus candidate for the APC senatorial ticket.
Hon. Hilary Ahmodu is not just a son of Idah; he is a tested administrator, a bridge builder, and a grassroots mobilizer whose track record speaks volumes. Having served meritoriously in various capacities, including as Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, Hon. Ahmodu has consistently demonstrated competence, loyalty, and dedication to service.
His deep understanding of governance, his accessibility to the people, and his commitment to the Igala cause make him uniquely qualified to represent Kogi East at the Senate. He embodies the aspirations of our youth, the wisdom of our elders, and the collective hope of our communities.
The Omadoko Association’s endorsement of Hon. Hilary Ahmodu is not based on sentiment alone. It is anchored on merit, capacity, and the urgent need to correct a longstanding political imbalance. He has shown through his public engagements and developmental initiatives that he possesses the vision and legislative insight required to effectively represent Kogi East in the Red Chamber.
Furthermore, Hon. Ahmodu’s candidacy represents a generational shift and a renewed commitment to inclusive representation. He understands the challenges facing our people—youth unemployment, infrastructure deficits, agricultural underdevelopment, and the need for federal presence across our communities. His approach to politics is people-centered and development-driven.
We call on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the state and national levels to carefully consider the principles of equity and justice as the 2027 elections approach. Granting Idah Local Government the opportunity to produce the next Senator for Kogi East will not only correct years of marginalization but also strengthen party unity across the district.
To our brothers and sisters in Ankpa, Dekina, Ofu, Olamaboro, Ibaji, Bassa, Omala and Igalamela-Odolu, this is not a sectional demand—it is a call for balance and fairness. Today it is Idah; tomorrow it may be another local government seeking understanding and support. Let us build a Kogi East where every component feels valued and included.
The Omadoko Association therefore urges all party faithful, stakeholders, youth groups, women associations, and traditional institutions to rally behind Hon. Hilary Ahmodu as the consensus candidate of Idah for the APC senatorial ticket in 2027.
History beckons. Justice demands action. Equity calls for courage.
It is the turn of Idah.
