… Empowers Constituents With N5Billion, Facilitates Multiple Jobs, Ofante Ogugu Road, Others

By Onoja Integrity

Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims, the Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives and member representing Ankpa, Omala, and Olamaboro Federal Constituency in Kogi State, has revealed that he possesses the political strength and resources to contest for the Kogi East senatorial seat, or to seek re-election to the House of Representatives. However, he emphasized his reliance on divine guidance, stating he cannot predict what the future holds.

Speaking during a closed-door meeting with 30 selected youths from Ankpa, Omala, and Olamaboro local government areas hosted in Abuja on Friday, Halims highlighted his extensive contributions to his constituency. He disclosed that his December 2025 mega empowerment programme alone cost approximately ₦5 billion, benefiting thousands of constituents through direct support and opportunities. The lawmaker, who has built a reputation for grassroots-focused interventions, described the gesture as part of his ongoing commitment to alleviating poverty and fostering self-reliance among his people.

Testimonies from beneficiaries at the meeting underscored Halims’ impact, with individuals and groups receiving cars, motorcycles, grinding machines, and various business tools during the December empowerment. Attendees also shared stories of family members and community members who had secured federal government jobs through his influence.

A poignant moment occurred when Halims received a real-time text message of gratitude from a recent job beneficiary, reinforcing the accounts of several others present. He further pledged to include all 30 youths in attendance in his next round of empowerment initiatives.

Beyond financial and job support, Halims has facilitated key infrastructure projects in his constituency. He noted that the dilapidated Ofante-Empdu-Unyiogugu road (also referred to in local contexts as Ofante-Ogugu road) is now receiving federal attention due to his advocacy, with construction expected to commence soon.

His track record includes earlier empowerments, such as a 2022 programme distributing items worth over ₦260 million, and the initiation of rural road projects like the Abache–Okenyi link road, which was flagged off by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in 2024.

Halims has also been credited with facilitating other constituency projects, including mini-bridges and community developments, earning praise for his role in bringing dividends of democracy to Ankpa, Omala, and Olamaboro.

To further better the lives of the people, the lawmaker also gave the opportunity to representatives of the local governments to speak on challenges facing their communities. He noted the challenges pointed out and spoke on ways he would tackle them. Some of which includes roads, JAMB registration centers for Olamaboro and Omala, more jobs for the people, skill empowerment and electrification.

As speculation grows about his political future ahead of upcoming cycles, the lawmaker reiterated his focus on service while leaving higher ambitions in God’s hands.
