KIEH Director Rewards Student Photojournalists with Cash Prizes

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, 100-level students of the Department of Mass Communication, Kogi State University, Kabba held a photo exhibition on Thursday, February 5, themed “The University Through Our Lens.” The exhibition showcased the power of visual storytelling and its role in shaping narratives and inspiring social action.

The exhibition provided a platform for students to demonstrate creativity and apply classroom learning by leveraging camera techniques and compelling compositions to tell powerful stories around their chosen themes. Through carefully curated images, the students explored campus life, identity, and institutional culture from fresh and engaging perspectives.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of cash prizes to the top three groups, who emerged first, second, and third respectively. The awards were donated by the Director of the Kogi State Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub (KIEH), KOSU, Dr. Babatunde Fanisi.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Fanisi commended the initiative and praised the Vice Chancellor, Prof. K.I.T. Eniola, for his passion for training professionals equipped for global relevance through innovation and practice.

In her remarks, the Exhibition Curator and Course Coordinator, Mrs. Opeyemi Ologun, expressed appreciation to the Vice Chancellor for fostering an environment that promotes innovation and resilience.

She also lauded the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. L.I. Abass, for reflecting the Vice Chancellor’s commitment to industry-focused pedagogy.

Mrs. Ologun further thanked the panel of judges; Dr. Babatunde Fanisi, Mr. S. Awodi, and Mr. Tade Oshaloto for their insightful evaluations and robust contributions to the success of the exhibition.
