The National Coordinator of the APC North Central Frontier Group, Hon. Moses Abdullahi, has raised strong concern over the continued loss of innocent lives across the North Central region, calling on the Federal Government and governors within the zone to urgently consolidate their efforts to stem the tide of violence.
In a statement issued in Abuja on behalf of the APC North Central Frontier Group, he acknowledged the steps taken so far by the Federal Government to confront insecurity but added that more needs to be done.
He described the situation as alarming and said the persistence of such killings poses a serious threat to national unity and public safety.
Hon. Abdullahi made the call against the backdrop of recurring attacks on communities, many of which have left families displaced, livelihoods destroyed, and entire localities living in fear.
He stressed that the scale and regularity of these incidents demand a more coordinated and determined response from all levels of government.
He noted that while progress has been recorded in certain areas, the realities on the ground show that much more needs to be done to protect lives and property.
The APC chieftain specifically commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to tackling banditry and terrorism, particularly within the North Central region.
He said the President’s resolve sends a strong signal that the Federal Government recognizes the gravity of the security challenges confronting the country.
However, Hon. Abdullahi emphasized that the recent spate of attacks across several communities calls for intensified action. According to him, existing efforts must be strengthened, refined, and sustained to match the evolving nature of the threats faced by citizens, especially those in rural and semi-urban areas.
He described as unacceptable the frequency with which people are killed for no justifiable reason in their own ancestral lands.
He lamented that communities that should serve as places of safety and belonging have become theatres of fear, where ordinary citizens live under constant threat.
Hon. Abdullahi further observed that the timing and pattern of recent killings point to gaps that can only be addressed through closer collaboration.
He called for a watertight partnership between the Federal Government, state governments, security agencies, traditional institutions, and other relevant stakeholders to decisively address the situation before it escalates further.
He stressed that security cannot be treated as the responsibility of one arm of government alone. Instead, he said it requires shared intelligence, unified strategies, and consistent engagement with local communities who often possess valuable information about emerging threats.
The APC North Central Frontier Group, he explained, remains deeply concerned about the humanitarian and social consequences of prolonged insecurity.
He warned that continued violence undermines economic activities, disrupts education, and erodes trust between citizens and the state.
Hon. Abdullahi reiterated that the group operates as an advocacy and pro-governance platform within the APC, committed to constructive engagement rather than mere criticism. He said the group consistently pushes for policies and actions that promote peace, stability, and inclusive development across the region.
According to him, a core objective of the APC North Central Frontier Group is to bridge the gap between government and grassroots communities. He noted that by amplifying local concerns and providing informed feedback, the group supports the effective delivery of campaign promises by APC-led governments.
He added that the group also plays an advisory role where necessary, offering practical insights aimed at strengthening governance outcomes.
Hon. Abdullahi urged leaders at all levels to treat the protection of lives as a sacred duty and to act decisively in restoring lasting peace to the North Central region and the country at large.
