Following the ongoing massive fasting programme among Christian believers across many denominations, the Resident Pastor of Dominion City, Lugbe, Abuja, Pastor Dr. Michael Olime, has called on Christians to draw lessons from the lifestyle of the eagle as a means of renewing strength and productivity.
Pastor Olime made the call on Wednesday during the church Midweek service held at Dominion City, Lugbe, Abuja, where he addressed members on the importance of spiritual renewal and personal discipline.
He explained that the eagle, known for its strength and longevity, periodically retreats to renew itself, shedding old feathers in order to regain vitality and soar again.
According to him, believers can adopt a similar approach by intentionally stepping aside from routine distractions to engage in personal and productive retreats.
The cleric stressed that such retreats are not acts of withdrawal from responsibility, but moments of deliberate reflection and renewal aimed at restoring strength and focus.
Pastor Olime highlighted the intelligence and resilience of the eagle, noting that its ability to wait, observe, and renew itself offers valuable lessons for Christians navigating spiritual and personal challenges.
In further explanation, Pastor Olime described the eagle as a bird of strong character, marked by determination, patience, and resilience. He noted that through discipline and repeated effort, the eagle develops powerful muscles, enabling it to carry prey that can weigh up to three times its own size, a reflection of strength built over time rather than sudden effort.
He also pointed to the swiftness of the eagle, describing it as decisive and fast in action. According to him, the eagle does not hesitate when the moment to act arrives, moving with great speed and precision, a quality he said believers should adopt when responding to spiritual direction and life opportunities.
The pastor further highlighted the eagle’s exceptional eyesight, explaining that it can clearly identify prey from a very high altitude. He said this attribute represents vision and foresight, urging Christians to develop spiritual clarity that allows them to see beyond immediate circumstances and remain focused on long term purpose.
He urged believers to learn from the eagle’s patience and discipline, especially during periods of fasting and prayer.
The resident pastor further encouraged Christians to remain proactive in prayer, personal Bible study, and consistent fellowship with God.
He noted that these spiritual practices serve as tools for inner renewal and help believers regain clarity and direction in their walk of faith.
According to him, neglecting these disciplines often leads to spiritual exhaustion, which can affect productivity and commitment.
Pastor Olime emphasized that spiritual renewal enables believers to rise again with renewed strength and purpose, just as the eagle returns stronger after its retreat.
He encouraged Christians to embrace intentional seasons of reflection, prayer, and learning, describing them as necessary steps toward fulfilling personal and spiritual responsibilities.
