The Hypocrisy of Political Cross-Carpeting and Attempts to Divide the Ebira People

History has repeatedly shown that some individuals from Igala land derive satisfaction in exploiting political moments to sow division among the Ebira people.

Today, we are witnessing the same pattern, as some who have cross-carpeted politically are attempting to pitch Ebiras against one another in the name of supporting different candidates.

One critical fact that supporters of Former Governor Yahaya Bello and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan must understand is this: Ebiras are brothers first before politics. No amount of external praise or propaganda should be allowed to weaken that bond. Ebira unity must never be sacrificed on the altar of political ambition or deceptive alliances.

It is also important to remind ourselves of recent history. In the 2019 governorship election, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan contested against Yahaya Bello. Ironically, many of those from Igala land who are today loud in praising Natasha did not support her at the polls. If there is any doubt, let them present the voting results from their polling units in 2019 to prove otherwise.

The reality is simple and consistent: when it truly matters, when votes are cast, many will always support their own over Yahaya Bello or Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The praise you hear today is often seasonal and strategic, not rooted in genuine political support or solidarity.

Ebiras must therefore remain politically conscious, united, and guided by facts, not flattery.

We must learn from history, not repeat its mistakes.
