Saturday December, 6,2025 is day of history and a day the people of Emure, a popular town in Ekiti state, southwest, Nigeria known for its vibrant, industrious and beautiful landscape with its rich cultural background acknowledged all over the world would never forget in a hurry as they use the occasion of the yearly celebrated Emure day festival to confer chieftaincy titled on deserving individuals and their spouses who have over the years played critical roles in the growth and development of the town.

Among those honoured at the occasion was chief Dr. Adebobola Bashorun and his beautiful wife who were individually conferred with the prestigious title of Mayegun and Yeye Mayegun of the Emure kingdom. The paramount ruler of the kingdom, a vibrant middle age man and.a retired custom officer acknowledged to have during his short stay yet in office brought peace, development, growth and above all modernity use the occasion in thanking their ancestors for the peace, health and development of the town and also in appreciation of the contributions of some deserving individuals in the actualization of this goals conferred chieftaincy titles on them to spur others to contribute their quota to the growth and development of the town.

Ekiti state is a state that is acknowledged both nationally and beyond as a state that is very unique because it is blessed with a rich cultural heritage and rich also with abundant human and natural resources and described as one of the most peaceful state in the country. The state also is unique because it speaks only one language and predominantly Christian and also one state that has a rich tourism potentials. Ekiti state is also a knowledge base economy with a rich abundance of educated people which it also use to trade internationally thereby contributing to the GDP growth of the country and above all the state is unique in many respect which cannot be exhausted in the course of this write up. The spirit of brotherliness being witnessed in the state is one factor which is worth celebrating encouraged yearly because of its role in the growth and development of the state.

As it is generally known Nigerian communities frequently bestowed chieftaincy titles on notable individuals recognizing their contributions to development and growth of the towns, philanthropy or leadership with celebrations and ceremonies. Generally it is not surprising to see the Emure community honours one of their very own which they deem fit to confer this rare honour on because they considered them distinguish enough and amiable to HONOUR for their immense contributions toward the growth and development of the town. The ceremony was so glamorous that as a friend I would be delighted and excited to visit the Emure kingdom once again next year.

The celebration was ñt only an intertwining between leadership and culture but the essence of humanity which is service which Dr. Bashorun and his wife represents. As beautiful as they all look in the great attire which they put on, so is the beauty of the Emure town, the beauty of their heritage, the beauty of their culture which bellies in the towns age long tradition.
