The Law Officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN), Kogi State Chapter, has issued a formal notice of a seven-day warning strike to the State government over unresolved welfare demands.

This was contained in a statement signed by the association’s Chairman, Mr. Shola Yusuf, on Thursday in Lokoja.

Yusuf noted that despite several engagements with the Ministry of Justice management and repeated letters of appeal to Governor Ahmed Ododo, the legitimate demands of law officers in the state remain unattended to.

According to him, the demands include the harmonization of law officers’ salaries with those of magistrates, payment of members’ bar practicing fees, and settlement of the association’s 2025 Annual Bar Conference fees.

He further listed the reversal of the removed hazard allowance and correction of wrong placement of members on grade levels below their year of call as part of the association’s core demands.

“Unless the above highlighted issues are addressed within 14 days from the date of this notice, members of LOAN in Kogi shall proceed on a seven-day warning strike,” the statement read.

The association stressed that the notice serves as a final call on the state government to act with urgency and fairness in order to avert disruptions in the administration of justice in the state.
