When President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR stepped into Aso Rock in May 2023, he did not inherit a garden of roses but a jungle of thorns planted by years of reckless leadership, subsidy scams, multiple exchange rates, insecurity, and institutional decay. Many leaders before him had tiptoed around Nigeria’s structural problems, afraid to confront vested interests. President Tinubu, the strategist, chose the road less travelled: courageous reforms over cosmetic politics. The courage to break old chains.
From day one, he declared war on the cancer of subsidy, the fraud of multiple exchange rates, and the crippling economic structures that had kept Nigeria stagnant. These were not easy choices. They were painful. They shook the comfort zones of profiteers who for decades fed fat on Nigeria’s misery. But that is exactly why they had to be done.
The opposition will scream. They will paint pictures of despair. But what they deliberately ignore is the deliberate reconstruction of Nigeria’s social fabric under President Tinubu.
For too long, insecurity, unemployment, and ethnic distrust tore at the soul of this nation. Today, reforms in education, agriculture, digital economy, and youth empowerment are gradually restoring hope.
President Tinubu understands that a society without cohesion cannot prosper. His administration is empowering local communities, strengthening security agencies, and laying the foundations of trust between citizens and the state. Where there is security, prosperity will follow.
Nigeria’s political space has long been the playground of opportunists, men who thrive on chaos, propaganda, and ethnic manipulation. Tinubu has outsmarted them all. With the patience of a strategist and the foresight of a master planner, he is reengineering Nigeria’s politics into a culture of accountability and issue based governance.
While opposition figures form coalitions of noise, President Tinubu is building institutions of stability. He has disciplined his party, secured national cohesion, and ensured that governance is not distracted by petty politics. The man who built Lagos into Africa’s fifth-largest economy knows the game better than his critics and that is why their attacks don’t move him.
Nigeria was sinking, Subsidy thieves and currency manipulators had strangled the economy. President Tinubu cut the noose. His reforms in subsidy removal and forex unification are not just economic policies; they are acts of national liberation.
Only liars would deny that the economy is being reset for long term stability. Investments in steel, mining, agriculture, infrastructure, and manufacturing are creating a new growth model.
The naira, battered by years of mismanagement, is finding its footing again. Inflation is being tackled, and Nigeria’s economic DNA is being rewritten to favour production over consumption.
Those who complain today are the same profiteers who benefitted from the old, rotten system. They hate Tinubu because his spirit irritates their demons of corruption and waste.
Tinubu is not patching a leaking roof; he is rebuilding the entire house. He is reshaping the social fabric, re-engineering politics, and reconfiguring the economy in a synchronized effort towards a new Nigeria. This is wholesome structural reformation not piecemeal, not cosmetic, but total.
History teaches us that nations don’t rise without sacrifice. Singapore, South Korea, and Rwanda all endured hardship to achieve prosperity. President Tinubu has placed Nigeria on that same track.
Only the short sighted will judge reforms by present discomfort; visionaries will see the glorious tomorrow already unfolding.
President Tinubu is not a man who governs by fear or popularity contests. He governs by conviction. He has chosen the path of reform, knowing it would attract insults, resistance, and propaganda. Yet, like a seasoned general, he marches on, unmoved by the cries of those swimming against the tides of history.
The truth is clear, President Tinubu is rejigging Nigeria for greatness. He is the leader who dared to do what others feared. In the years to come, Nigerians will look back and say, Here was a President who reengineered our politics, rebuilt our society, and reconfigured our economy and in doing so, rescued our nation.
That is the verdict history is preparing for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
