The Kogi State Hajj Commission Tuesday said that a total of 838 slots have been allocated to it by the National Hajj commission for this year’s holy pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

The Acting chairman of the Commission Alhaji Isah Abdullahi, who disclosed this at a news briefing, added that the figure was lower than the 916 allocated to the state last year.

According to the chairman, the commission for the first time in the history of Hajj operations was licensed by the National Hajj Commission to operate Hajj and Umrah.

He said the commission had secured conducive hotel accommodations, adding that: “The proximity to Alharam is 400 meters; the accommodation is wonderful, three beds in a room and two mosques on a different floor”.

Abdullahi said the intending pilgrims will be sensitised on hajj guidelines and would also undergo medical fitness tests to ascertain their eligibility for the exercise.
