7 Weeks Old Strike: KSU Students Protest, Issues Ultimatum To State Govt

Yesterday, students Of Kogi State University (KSU), Anyigba staged a peaceful protest over the 7 weeks long strike embarked on by KSU chapter of ASUU.

The leadership of ASUU met yesterday and promised to call off the strike as soon as the state government gives them the money they are requesting for.

The highly disappointed and embittered students decided to state a city-wide protest because they justifiably tired of the numerous meetings between ASUU and the state government which has not produced the desired result.

The protesting students blocked the gate of the University and refused to let vehicles pass through.

Student leaders have issued a 48 hours ultimatum to the state government to respond to the requests of ASUU or face a showdown in the state capital on Wednesday, 22nd April.

 

According to the spokesperson of the student union body, Comrade Victory Anslem, the Countdown has started already.

“The Wednesday, 22nd April 6pm ultimatum given to the Kogi State Government to pay our lecturers their hard-earned allowances as stipulated in the 2009 agreement has started counting and we are set for a showdown”, he said.
