32 Year-old David Oni Declares for Yagba East Assembly Seat

Senior Special Assistant to Kogi State Governor on Industries and Productivity, Engr. David Oni Sunday has declared his intention to contest for the Yagba East constituency seat in the Kogi State House of Assembly.

The All Progressives Congress stalwart made the declaration today at his Ward 09, Okemeta APC secretariat in Isanlu after meeting with all the party ward chairmen in Yagba East.

32 year-old David, popularly known as Ogbeni, is a mining engineer and well known businessman who is into borehole drilling and installation.

He told the party executives that he decided to run for the office because he is qualified and fit to represent the constituency in the State House of Assembly.

Thanking Governor Yahaya Bello for giving him an opportunity to make impact, he told the party leaders and supporters who gathered at the declaration that he has contributed to his community and to the local government, hence he needed a higher platform to do more and better a lot of his people.

Ogbeni said because of his love for community development and the welfare of his people, he is using his current position as Senior Special Assistant to bring dividends of good governance to the people as exemplified and directed by Governor Yahaya Bello.

“I have empowered not less than 102 widows, provided wheelchair to a physically challenged aged woman. I also provided 20 solar powered street lights to power Irunda community that has been in darkness for decades, I donated a borehole to Itedo Ijowa community to mitigate their suffering to get portable water.

“I have great respect for our elders and traditional institution and I am ready to work for the good of the local government. I am your son. I want to serve the people of this local government if you give me the opportunity,” Ogbeni told the party executives.

David said his people, whom he had served in different capacities as students union and community leader, came calling him to contest the election. He said through the House of Assembly he will contribute more to the development of local government.

He expressed confidence in the APC, assuring that he would win the election.

In his response, Chairman of APC in the Ward, Mr Babatunde Olaitan, commended Ogbeni for daring to contest for the position even at his age.

He said his courage and determination is a motivation to several young people, urging him to be fervent with consultation.

The Chairman told him to go and lobby delegates, canvass for votes, adding, however, that it is only God that gives victory in every contest.
