Ahead of the next month general elections in the country, the ruling All Progressive Congress’s stakeholders in Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency have resolved to work for the overall victory of the party in the area.

The meeting which was held yesterday in Kabba and well attended by various stakeholders across the thirty wards of the Federal Constituency except for some top government functionaries who were not able to attend due to their official engagements at various locations in the country but sent their apologies.

Speaking at the stakeholder’s Parley, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly who is also the candidate of the party in the Constituency, commended the stakeholders for their commitment and dedication towards the success of the party in the forthcoming elections, stressing the need for all members of the party to work together irrespective of the differences.

He appealed to those who may have grievances against one another, maybe as a result of the outcome of the party primaries, especially  aspirants who contested and could not make it to work with other party members stressing that it is only when the party wins at the general elections that such individuals can be carried along.

He said APC as a party remains a formidable platform in the constituency that needs to work in unity to take the mantle of leadership of the Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, pointing out that the reign of the opposition party in the area is over.

He said the party has what it takes to deliver all it’s candidates from top to bottom in the area, hence all stakeholders need to agree to work together for the overall interest of the party, urging them to take clue from the statement of Governor Yahaya Bello who says the area tends to benefit more if stakeholders mobilize overwhelming votes for the party in the elections.

He said no one should hide behind any finger, pointing out that even if anyone works for the opposition parties, such persons cannot get any benefits as they would if it is their party that wins.

The Speaker promised to provide qualitative representation when elected, stressing that he is an experienced legislator that will attract great dividends of democracy to the constituency like never before.

The Director General of the Campaign Council, Hon. Adesayo Ismail charged all stakeholders and party faithfuls to see the elections as critical to their political survival, hence the need for all and sundry within the party to put in their best for APC to win all the elections from top to bottom.

He noted that there is no where Ijumu agreed to have an agenda hence people should not listen to those using Ijumu name to curry favor from unsuspected members of the public, pointing out that someone who failed in his party primary and ported to another party cannot play on the intelligence of the innocent people.

Hon Adesayo said Ijumu have more stake in the APC considering the monumental roles being played by one of their sons, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke who is the Secretary of the Presidential Campaign Council aside his personal relationship with the presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, hence the Federal Constituency cannot afford to disappoint him, urging party members to disregard such insinuations from any quarters.

He said people are already talking to Hon Segun Olobatoke who went to court to close rank with the party since the case has been concluded at the Supreme Court, pointing out that whatever is the situation he is still a member of the party like other contestants such as Barrister David Aiyedogbon who is the DG, APC Kogi West Campaign Council and Commander Jerry Omodara, the State Security Adviser.

He reiterated that APC as a party is more united than the opposition.

He said there is no more time, hence campaign activities will be scheduled in the next few days, hence all stakeholders are urged to get set to take the campaign to all the nooks and crannies of the area via village to village campaigns.

In their separate remarks, Candidates of the Kogi State House of Assembly for Kabba/Bunu and Ijumu Constituencies, Hon. Seyi Bello and Hon. (Mrs) Tayo Ishaya assured the party stakeholders and indeed the electorate of their various constituency qualitative representations when elected.

They appealed to members of the party to have a unity of purpose in prosecuting the elections, stressing that with the caliber of men and women present at the meeting, APC will be victorious in the federal Constituency.

The two Vice Chairpersons of the both local governments, Mrs Bimpe Alfred and Mrs Rachel Otitolaiye represented their boss who were on critical assignments in Lokoja respectively.

In their addresses, they stated their preparedness to give their best for the success of the party in the area in all the elections, pointing out that people should maintain peace, law and order before, during and after the elections as admonished by Governor Yahaya Bello as anyone caught causing trouble will not be spared no matter how highly placed as the law will catch up with him/her.

Other speakers at the meeting said similar meetings should be regular to discuss the way forward for the party. The party was advised to adopt a  reward mechanism that will encourage members who have worked hard for the success of the party at various times.

They also noted that after the party might have won all its elections, appointments to be given should be based on the wards, not a situation where some wards will have more than five appointments while some will not have one.

It was unanimously agreed that there will be no room for the oppositions in the Federal Constituency hence party members must be more prepared to win the elections considering the achievements of the APC-led government in the area, like the Kabba – Obajana road, the Kabba township, the ongoing construction of Aiyetoro – Kiri – Abugi road, Okebukun – Aiyegunle – Odo Ape electrification projects, water projects across the area, solar street lights and other numerous projects.
