The office of member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Elder Leke Abejide, has downplayed viral social media campaign suggesting that the lawmaker is aspiring for Kogi governorship seat in 2023.

A statement issued by a legislative aide to rep member, Sule Iroko, in Abuja on Saturday, said his principal has “been labelled with false aspiration against his self-explanatory standard to take Yagba Federal Constituency to a point his people so desire.”

According to Iroko, Abejide is yet to declare that he is aspiring to be governor of Kogi state as he is “obviously obsessed with the priorities of his people at this present time.”

“My attention has been drawn to group of persons paddling Governorship agenda for Elder Leke Abejide, the House of Representative member, Yagba Federal Constituency without his consent.

“The WhatsApp group purportedly opened on his behalf is fraudulent, embarrassing, and does not have his approval hence the general public is hereby advised to disregard.

“Within his first, and by the special grace of God with his second term, he has a rigid and successive demographic objectivity for Yagba people.

“It is understandable we have formidable structures across Yagba land with inherent capacity to tremble the status quo, but we are not yet done with the rebrand of our constituency,” he said.

Iroko said thought Kogi state is one Abejide craves to see attain greatness, but he is yet to see his tentacles extend to such political domain.
