Youth leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from across the seven local government of Kogi West have endorsed Engr. Musa Wada as their preferred candidate for the 2019 Kogi governorship race.
The youth leaders arrived at the decision to endorse Wada after a meeting in Kabba on Saturday.
In a communique signed by the spokesman of the group, Hon. Ibileke Oluwasegun, they youth leaders described the decision for the endorsement of Engr. Wada as important for the party leaders and other delegates across the state to access and consider in the interest of the party.
The youth leaders said they resolved to support Mr Musa Wada after careful consideration and appraisal of the credentials, experience, age, credibility, integrity and public perception of all the aspirants.
“As the race to occupy Lugard House comes closer several aspirants have indicated interest to occupy the seat of power after the expiration of the tenure of Alh Yahaya Bello government. In all of the political parties the Peoples Democratic Party appears to have the highest number of aspirants, at the last count, PDP has above fifteen (15) persons that have indicated interest to replace the incumbent Governor. This number has been described by political leaders of the party as indication of landslide victory for the party and its wide acceptability in the state but the contentious and disturbing issue is how to manage these aspirants to produce a candidate that will be acceptable to all.
“Engr Wada is a resourceful and fine professional, an experienced and upright public servant who has put in over two and half decades into various public offices that makes him stand out among other aspirants. He is also a young man and enjoys wide public acceptability.
“The group therefore considers him fit for the job and intends to write a formal letter to various hierarchy of the party executives, party leaders and stakeholders to request their support for the adopted candidate,” he said.
Alh. Musa Wada who hails from Dekina LGA is a trained engineer and Director at the Nigeria Ports Authority. He is believed by many to be close to the youths and has all it takes to lead the state.
