The Kogi State Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Alhaji (Dr.) Denja Abdul has charged members of the party to unite and work tirelessly to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the state.
Speaking yesterday during the inauguration of Oworo Ward executive committee at St. Peter’s LGEA Primary School, Felele, in Lokoja local government area of Kogi State, he also implored members of the party to be disciplined and shun impunity for the party to achieve its dream of governing the state.
Abdul said: “I want all of us to see the best in ADP now and get the best out of the APC in the next election. This is only possible with strong unity. No matter how many times the teeth bite the tongue they are still together, and that is forgiveness.
“Therefore, I call on you all to show more commitment to the party and see its success to defeat the APC in 2019 as paramount,” he appealed to the members.
The ADP chairman, while expressing his determination and the passion of the state executive to lead the party to victory in 2019 in Kogi State, implored members to be united, have respect for one another and shun any act that can destroy the party no matter their grievances.
Abdul said his mission as chairman of the ADP in the state was to deliver responsive and responsible leadership to galvanize the party to greatness and therefore admonished all members to respect the power sharing agreement among the groups in the party.
He said the inauguration of the Oworo Ward executive committee in line with the party’s constitution was to strengthen and reposition the party for greatness in the state.
While inaugurating the new executive committee, Abdul said: “Your first assignment is to go around the units, mobilizing and sensitizing the people of the need to have their voter’s card.
“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commence registration of those that were underage during the last registration and who have come of age now. It will be your job to encourage them to register.
“Mobilizing people to register for their voter’s card will be the weapon that we will use to dislodge the APC. There will be no victory without the voter’s card and the card remains the only weapon we can use to send the government of the APC away.
“You will have to do whatever it takes; if it is a door-to-door or house-to-house campaign to mobilize our people at grassroots to make sure that we come out en masse to get that weapon which is our voter’s card for use on Election Day to chase these people out of power,” the chairman stressed.
Speaking at the occasion, the ADP chairman, Oworo Ward, Hon. Chief Adamu Yakubu who commended Abdul for bringing everybody together, urged party members to remain committed to the ADP.
The inauguration ceremony which featured issuance of party membership cards to new entrants, has all members of the state executive committee in attendance.
