1Yr in Office: Halima Wada Donates Gift Items to Orphanage Homes

Kogi State First Lady, Hajia Halima Wada, has donated gift items to Orphanage Homes as part of activities marking the first year anniversary of the administration of Capt Idris Wada, Margaret Garba Orphanage in Lokoja, Ekundayo Childrens Home and Greater Grace Mission in Isanlu and Ministry of Mercy orphanage and less privilege  homes in Dekina LGA  were places visited by the first lady.

Hajia Wada, who was represented by the wife of the Deputy Governor Mrs Tokunbo Awoniyi while on the visit at the orphanage homes said the state government aside infra structural development has made the welfare of Women and Youths a priority in the last one year.

She disclosed that the State Government was working towards the easy passage of the child right acts at the State House of Assembly.

She urged parents not to abuse children,while she also called on well to do individuals, NGOs and the Private Sectors to help assist in setting up orphanage homes.

She added that the Kogi Women Network her NGO, established to cater for the less privilege sees the first year anniversary as a period to share with the needy.

The first lady promised her NGO’s support in providing succour for people living in homes adding that it was not their making to find themselves in such circumstances,called on well to do in the society to rise to the challenge of supporting those saddled with running orphanage and less privilege homes.

Among items donated by the first lady were toiletries, indomie, bags of rice,beverages,clothing’s and spaghetti among other household items.

Earlier in their separate speeches, the representatives of the Homes, Rev Stephen Olotu, Dayo Oluyomi and Christiana Zakari all thanked the concern of the state government towards assisting them in running the homes which they described as not an easy task.
