As part of the notable achievements of the incumbent’s first 100 days in office as governor, the State government has taken delivery of 120 new transformers to boost electricity supply in the state.
Kogi State deputy governor, Architect Yomi Awoniyi disclosed this while receiving the transformers in Lokoja recently, adding they would be installed in strategic areas in Lokoja and other communities where power supply had become epileptic.
According to him, electricity supply has become irregular in some areas due to old distribution facilities.
He said this had prompted the state government to come out with a plan to gradually phase out obsolete transformers and replace them with new and high capacity ones in major towns of the state.
Awoniyi said the plan was to install the new transformers in Lokoja, Okene, Kabba, Ayangba and other major towns.
He noted that the decision to buy the equipment was borne out of the desire of the government to affect the lives of the people positively.
The deputy governor ordered the state Directorate of Rural Development to compile a list of areas in Lokoja and other communities where the transformers would be installed.
In his remarks, Mr Noah Ahmed, the acting Director -General of the Directorate, expressed delight over the quality of the transformers, stating that it underscored the present administration’s taste for excellence.
