The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) In collaboration with the Kogi State Emergency Management Agency has commenced training of volunteers and  stakeholders on how to manage flood.

Speaking with journalists at the workshop, zonal coordinator NEMA, Abuja operation office, Ishaya Chonoko, said the training focuses on disaster management, search and rescue/evacuation of flood communities as well as camp management and coordination.

“The training was as a result of last year’s experience in the area of camp management. We are here to train volunteers on camp management and camp coordination because when floods come, people would be housed in camps and if those managing the camps are equipped, there would be effective coordination and better management of victims. Last year’s experience was not the best way to handle disaster, hence the need for the training,” he said.
