Your Excellency,
The undersigned Eminent Personalities of Yagba West Local Government Area wish to appreciate Your Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ododo, FCA, for responding quickly and positively to the cries of the people of Ogbe Community following the brutal murder of two young men by bandits, who until their tragic murder on Friday 17th May, 2024 were committed members of the Community.
While the sad occurence created a shock wave across the neighborhoods of Yagba West Local Government Area, Your Excellency’s quick response came as a soothing balm that assuaged our pains, and reassured us of the commitment of your administration in the protection of lives and property.
The unspoken words conveyed by the visit to Ogbe by the Hon Commissioner for Information, Evangelist Kingsley Fanwo are there to serve as a warning to criminal elements that Kogi State is that soil upon which seeds of banditry and kidnapping cannot be planted because we have a Governor who cares about the safety and well-being of his people in a state that has all the forces required to tame criminality and defeat terror.
By your commitment, we are being persuaded that your New Direction Administration’s resolve to go after the perpetrators of the heinous crime are not mere politics, but are rooted in such examples as seen in the prompt action that led to the arrests of the perpetrators of the attacks in CUSTECH, Osara.
Sir, the coordinated, effective and positive rescue efforts are commendable.
We would like to extend a sincere thank-you to Your Excellency for showing clear understanding that no part of Kogi State is different from the rest of the state in terms of sharing the dividends of democracy and challenges. We appreciate the acknowledgment of the existential burden the activities of bandits and kidnappers is placing on our country, Nigeria and the painful toll it is taking on the affected communities, including Yagbaland with the latest attacks on Ejiba and Ogbe.
We however appreciate Your Excellency’s recognition of the need for a renewed approach and vigour towards boosting the state’s community policing initiatives, including the donation of vehicles and motorcycles to all 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
Once again, Sir, on behalf of the good people of Yagba West, we align ourselves with your New Direction Administration towards the attainment of greater heights for our dear State.
