RE: STOP BITING THE FINGERS THAT FED YOU; Melaye Replies Kogi Speaker.
You Are A Self Serving Advocate – CPS
The need to dignify the feeding fingers analogy of Mr. Femi Melaiye with a response would not have been necessary but for the benefit of Kogites whose sensibility might be assaulted by the twisted logic in the write-up, clarification becomes imperative.
The author’s reaction to a news item credited to Rt Hon Matthew Kolawole by some online news and national dailies during a courtesy call by the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Kabba/Bunu chapter and the Executive members of the Education Authority Office, Kabba is obviously laced with malice for reasons difficult to fathom.
To put the record straight, the Speaker did not say the Civil Servants are the cause of their problem rather, Rt. Hon Matthew Kolawole merely stated the inglorious roles played by some civil servants that led Kogi State to the unfortunate situation that made the screening exercise inevitable. He buttressed this with his experience while in the local government with regards to the ghost and diaspora workers syndrome; this experience the workers he was addressing can attest to and relate with. He did this to show the level of rot in the system but it is not in anyway a denial of the pain the screening exercise has brought on genuine workers. If the author took time to read the report fully and not  carried away by the catchy caption of the particular one he based his reaction on, he will see the divergence therein.  The Honourable Speaker is a product of the grassroots whose success at the General Election in 2015 was predicated on his antecedents of love and care for the downtrodden, a behavior he has not departed from till date.
The speaker is a lover of the people judging from his humane disposition to all kind of people as an accomplished international business mogul, a community leader and politician of repute whose principal objective and focus is to represent his people well.
The speaker since he assumed duty on the 3rd August, 2017, has continue to preach peace that will engender the repositioning of the legislative arm and Kogi state in general.
The speaker has persistently reiterated his confidence in the screening exercise embarked upon by the current administration under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello to reposition the state civil service for better, effective and efficient performance.
The statement by the Speaker is not in any way an indictment of the tenure of Hon. Nathaniel Taiwo as Chairman of Kabba/Bunu LGA and any attempt to present it as such is not only laughable but mischievous.
We are restrained from further comments on the former Chairman,  Hon Nathaniel Taiwo as we have seen through the sly attempt of the writer  to create bad blood between two good friends which we have resolved not to promote.
For the avoidance of doubt, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole and other Honourable members in the Assembly are fully aware of the pains of the people who are also their constituents and have taken steps over time to ensure genuine workers and pensioners are paid. This they will continue to do in partnership with the Executive to ensure outstanding owed cleared and pardoned workers and retirees are paid.
Kogi State House of Assembly under the able leadership of Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole is focused on its role to make laws for good governance and will collaborate with the Executive in ensuring enhanced living for the people of Kogi State.
Mr. Femi Melaiye is advised to tow the path of decency and stop playing with the pain of others while genuine efforts are being made by their elected representatives in the Assembly to put smiles on their faces.
A mischief laden and self-serving post on behalf of a phantom NGO will neither sway Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole nor Kogi State House Assembly from performing their duties in the service of the people.
