The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal for Kogi on Thursday dismissed another petition asking it to nullify the election Alhaji Yahaya Bello as governor.

The petition, the fourth out of the six petitions against the election of Bello before the Tribunal was by the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The candidate of the party in the Kogi State November 21 gubernatorial election, Zainab Usman had asked the Tribunal to nullify the election of the APC governorship candidate over allegation that it was marred by irregularities.

She argued that the election should be voided because Bello did not score majority of lawful votes cast.

But while ruling on the petition, the Justice Halima Muhammad led tribunal said the evidence led by ADC before it was mere hearsay as the only witness called by the party to prove its claims was not even in Kogi at the day of the election.

The tribunal, in a unanimous judgment therefore dismissed the petition for lack of merit.

The tribunal will also on Friday deliver judgment on the petition of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA candidate in the 21 November against the election of Bello.
