Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello met with National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu at the NSA’s office in Abuja on Friday, using the occasion to praise President Bola Tinubu’s administration for what he described as measurable progress against insecurity nationwide.
Bello pointed to the recent disruption of a plan to abduct schoolchildren in Kogi State as evidence of the Federal Government’s continued support for the state. He credited the outcome to closer coordination among security agencies, calling it proof that intelligence-led operations are producing results.
“I want to use this opportunity to commend Mr President and our leader,” Bello said, adding that the operation showed the state continues to receive strong federal backing.
The former governor singled out Ribadu for what he called strategic leadership in building stronger cooperation among Nigeria’s security and intelligence agencies. That collaboration, Bello argued, has improved the country’s ability to respond quickly to emerging threats. He also credited the Tinubu administration’s ongoing investment in intelligence gathering and operational support with lifting morale among security personnel.
Bello also addressed the recent rescue of abducted schoolchildren in Oyo State, commending the president, the NSA and security agencies for the effort involved in securing the victims’ release. He paid tribute to officers who died during the operation, describing their sacrifice as a mark of commitment to the country’s defense.
Welcoming Bello to his office, Ribadu framed insecurity as a shared national responsibility. “The issue of insecurity concerns everyone in this country,” he said, adding that Nigeria can overcome the challenge if citizens play their part.
Bello closed by urging Nigerians to keep supporting federal and security agency efforts through vigilance and by sharing credible, timely information. He described the fight against insecurity as a collective responsibility requiring sustained cooperation between citizens and security institutions.
He said he remains confident that, under Tinubu’s leadership and Ribadu’s strategic guidance, Nigeria will continue to record gains against criminality, adding that ongoing security reforms and stronger inter-agency collaboration are building a foundation for lasting peace and stability.
