A youth-based organization, Yagba West Integrity Group, has expressed gratitude to Engr Joseph Olusegun for his sterling leadership during the last governorship election in Kogi state.

A statement signed by the spokesperson of the group, Femi Agbaowo, and made available to Kogi Reports on Thursday, said Engr Joseph was the main pillar behind the victory recorded by All Progressives Congress (APC) in all 14 wards in Yagba West local government area.

The youths noted that while they commend all leaders and stakeholders of the party in the local government for the success at the polls, it will be a sin against God and humanity to deny the leading roles played by Engr Joseph.

“We are not against any of our leaders. They contributed in no small ways to the historic 14/14 victory recorded by our Governor Elect, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo in Yagba West. However, it is worthy to note that while some leaders presenting themselves as major drivers of the success today didn’t join us during the campaigns through the nooks and crannies of Yagba West LGA but came home just few days to the election.

“We are not trying to downplay anyone’s roles but to set records straight. A leader was on ground throughout the campaigns who did not just lead us but oiled the machineries with his own resources. Engr. Joseph Olusegun (JOS) abandoned bis private businesses for more than 20 days and was coming home at regular intervals to ensure total victory for His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

“It will be a great sin against God almighty and humanity to even attempt to change the narrative and ascribed his effort to someone else. Engr. Joseph Olusegun was indeed the brain behind the success we recorded on November 11. While the public was aware of the initial N10 million he donated to the party for campaigns, Engr Joseph went overboard bankrolling most of our campaign activities as well as his personal one-on-one outreach to the electorate.

“We, the youths of Yagba West, are not ingrates. We are grateful to Engr. Joseph Olusegun for his generosity, commitment and leadership roles during the election,” he said.

The group urged Engr Joseph not to relent in his commitment to the development and welfare of the people of Yagba West, assuring him of their unalloyed support at all times.
