I am Ilesanmi Abdulnafiu a.k.a. Sule Iroko. I was born to the Sule Iroko royal family of Ilafin Ward 10 Isanlu, Yagba East LGA. I bagged a Bachelor’s degree of Economics from Bayero University, Kano, an MBA from University of Ado Ekiti and a PGDE from same institution. I have been an entrepreneur with remarkable experience in ICT.
As CEO of Iroko Computers, spanning sixteen years I was responsible for grooming young people for self reliance, since this fall naturally in line with my passion for youth reorientation and capacity building as the most potent tools for socio-economic development and peace building. I have been a mentor to many as my establishment has trained arguably the highest number of young people in Yagba East. I am happily married with kids.
My Mission
To, through the instrumentality of qualitative legislation provide solutions to glaring problems and yearnings of the good people of YAGBA EAST CONSTITUENCY as House of Assembly member.
My Vision
To be the voice of my Constituency at the Kogi State Assembly by drawing attention to issues that will advance our economic status, thereby stimulating growths and sustainable development in all identified areas.
My Core Concerns
* Increasing youth idleness/unemployment/ restiveness
* Increasing youth involvement in drug abuse and political thuggery.
* Increasing number of school drop outs at all levels due to parental/Guardian incapability in meeting up with educational demands .
* Lack of legislative tool for the ‘Economic Advancement’ of women.
* Total neglects of the *aged* with legislative clause as regards to health care and other statutory packages to relief there pain
* Infrastructural decay due to negligence which requires constant legislative appraisal where necessary.
My Action Plan To Address Concerns and Drive Local Economy
I have drawn plans to collaborate with reputable local and international organizations such as Industrial Training Funds, Small and Medium Enterprises development Agency of Nigeria, well meaning philanthropists, LGA & State government through legislative inputs and lobby in addition to due consideration of the budgetary allocations to the Constituency projects which shall be made public and executed in conformity with the Budget. So also with NGOs focusing on Youth and Women Advancement Programs, all these, in order to tackle the perennial menaces responsible for our underdevelopment such as:
Poor Infrastructure
- Renovation of dilapidated primary schools and decaying health care centers in each Ward and erecting new ones.
- Fixing of collapsed culverts and ducts , building of new ones linking villages in each wards.
Inadequate Supply of Agricultural Inputs
- Efforts shall be made to assist farmers in each Ward with the following: Tractor hiring Services through LGA , Herbicides, Fertilizer, Chemicals , Improved seedlings and Access to micro credit facilities lobbying Bank of Agriculture.
Inadequate Medical Attention
- Provision of free periodic medical treatment for sick persons in collaboration with NGOs and well meaning individuals.
Youth Unemployment
- Setting up skill acquisition centers/reviving existing ones and provision of incentives for entrepreneurs particularly the youth.
- Ensuring that mineral resources exploitation is done accordingly to drive our local economy for our benefit.
Poor Internal Security
- Efforts shall be made through legislative inputs for urgent overhauling of the security apparatus , sponsoring community policing bill as well enhancing existing local govt vigilante group. This is because insecurity is a barrier to productivity.
Inadequate Provisions for Women Empowerment
- Special policy and bill shall be projected for women empowerment and advancement, reliance as well promoting equality and equitable distribution of opportunities an create sustainable innovative agenda for productivity and Economic growth.
Conclusion
These trying times demands firm resolve to safeguard our future and those of our children, by conscious efforts to avoid the mistakes of the past. Such time as this demand an insider who knows where it’s pains. Someone with clear goals and tested capacity to transform those goals into reality.
YAGBA EAST needs a young, vibrant and intellectually sound person with experience to exploit and transmute resources for a prosperous, and secured Constituency. As home of intellectuals , professionals of repute , captains of Industry and political hub of a Federal Constituency, it is therefore imperative that your mandate must be in care of an individual worthy of your trust. A responsibility I, Ilesanmi Abdulnafiu Sule Iroko is well positioned to undertake.
