A group, Women in Agriculture has described the Kogi state government Accelerated Rice Scheme as a step towards industrialization of the state.
The president of Women in Agriculture WIA, Kogi State chapter Mrs Audu Esther who made this known yesterday while speaking to newsmen this to in Lokoja, stated that the Accelerated Rice Project is a right project in right direction
She explained that the project will assist in reducing poverty in the country a thing she noted was largely responsible for increase in juvenile crimes across the nation.
Audu noted that with the scheme the life style of women in the 21 local government areas of Kogi state has changed for the better.
‘’Our interests were protected from the allocation of farm plots, distribution of inputs and finance this is another first by the Wada led administration in this state’’.
‘’The government told us to plant what we eat and to eat what we grow perfect way fight poverty and drive away hungers from the land’’.
She appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to complete the ongoing dredging of the River Niger so as to boast water transport system across the region.
She called on the people of the state to join hands with the present administration in the state and Nigeria.
