Why We Left PDP — Clarence Olafemi

Former Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Mr Clarence Olafemi, on Sunday, disclosed that he and other members of the state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Elders Forum left the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC) because they were ignored and that the umbrella was leaking .

Speaking on behalf of Dr Alex Kadiri, John Odawn who have publicly defected to the APC, Olafemi informed that the PDP ignored them, saying “we left the party because the umbrella is torn and leaking, I would not stay under such an umbrella.”

Olafemi, who disclosed that he would contest for the governorship election of the state which would come later in the year under his new party, the APC, said he saw what was currently happening to the PDP in the state a long time ago, adding that “we are tired of a government that is inactive.”

He stated that there is a need for urgent intervention in the country saying that if the country should collapse there is no other country for him to run to believing that except” God saves the country and the people and we have a change of government something else might happen”

Olafemi who once acted as the governor of the state said he was the architect of the defection and the organizer of the presidential rally held by the APC recently in the state asked Nigerians to cast their votes wisely believing that the result of the February 14 election would shock many people in the country.

The former Speaker called on his people of Yagba and others in the state to vote for all candidates of the All Progressive Congress saying that with what is happening in the state “PDP has disappointed the electorates and the party is no longer relevant in the scheme of things”
