The Deputy Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly and member representing Ankpa 1 constituency, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed has hailed Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state as a man who is committed to achievable goals and when reelected, would do more for the State.

Ahmed Ahmed made this known during an interactive session with coalition of youths and women groups who visited his residence in Lokoja on Wednesday.

He expressed confidence that the Igala people of Kogi East will reciprocate Gov. Bello’s good gestures by re-electing him in November.

The lawmaker noted that Governor Bello is a detribalised governor who has within the last three years laid solid foundations despite challenges coupled with the lean resources and huge debts incurred by former administrations..

The lawmaker stated that only his continuity in office will guarantee putting super structures on the face of a new Kogi State.

“I have said this so many times and I will continue to sensitize our people, this administration is laying a foundation. When you want to build a house, people who are walking past may not see the foundation until you put a super structure there. It is now the time to put that structure and only those who are involved in the foundation will understand it.

“The Governor considers safety of lives and property very important, it is the duty of government and on that score, the governor is not only interested in infrastructural development in the state but considers lives very sacred and put all those things to make life safe are in the front burner. The Governor has succeeded in putting up strategic measures in combating crimes by establishing a well-structured intelligence gathering mechanism, creating the needed synergy among the security agencies in the State for smoother operation and intelligence sharing, identification of critical stakeholders like traditional rulers, youth leaders, women leaders and ensuring that they were incorporated as vital security stakeholders in the State.

“In Ankpa LGA, our township road is a one of the many strides of Yahaya Bello. The ongoing construction of Ibana-Okpo-Ikeje-Ogugu-Ete road, Umomi-Akpagidigbo-Ugwolawo-Ajaka-Idah Road, Ankpa-Emere-Enabo-Ola-Abejukolo Road, Agasa-Upogoroh road, Kuroko – Ikaturu – Eika Ohizenyi road, Ohinoyi palace junction-GRA road, Inoziomi Road, Ijowa-Ife-Olukotun road and very soon, the Ayingba – Dekina road will definitely bridge the infrastructure gap in the state.

“Take a look at the Igala Unity House, the move to give it one of the best look for Igala activities, programs was facilitated by our own brother, Hon. Chief Edward Onoja, and some progressive minded Igala sons and daughters. It will be commissioned this week. The state government has been so considerate with the Igala people in many areas, all thanks to the Chief of Staff.

“In the area of Agriculture, Kogi State is doing extremely well. For example, the Omi Rice Farm and Ejiba Confluence Rice Mill which will combat food security in the state and provide employment for the teeming youth while increasing the IGR of the state. The proposed establishment of Cashew and Oil palm processing factories will provide more jobs and boost the state IGR as well.

“Governor Yahaya Bello has on so many occasions, published for all to see on the State website the audited reports of government annually. This is not a government they can accuse of not being transparent or not accountable to the people. He is an accountant of many years who knows what he is doing and believes strongly in accountability and transparency in public affairs.

“Some of us have taken it as personal duty since the enemies of the state have closed their eyes and don’t want to see his unprecedented efforts, we will be sending the details to them so that they can tell the world that GYB is transparent, honest and he believes in accountability.

“The governor is working very hard to turn Kogi to a smart city, so let us all join hands with him and give him additional four years to really make our state one of the best among states. The All Progressives Congress (APC) under his leadership scored 95% in the first phase of the elections and now, the second phase is to ensure the Governor  is returned elected in November 2019,” he said.
