Members of the ‘Save Yagba Group’ (SYG) yesterday urged the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure that the replacement of Mr James Abiodun Faleke as deputy governor comes from Kogi West senatorial district in the interest of fairness and balance.
Spokesman of the group, Mr Olusiji Adeboye, said in a statement in Lokoja that it would amount to ‘great injustice’ if the deputy governorship slot is given to someone from another zone.
He added that Kogi West senatorial district is one particular zone that is lagging behind in the current political dispensation in the state.
According to the group, Kogi Central currently produces the position of governor, Speaker of the state assembly, chairmanship of both APC and PDP while the Kogi East has the ministerial position, Chief of staff and deputy speaker.
The group appealed to the new governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, to ensure fairness and equity in all his political appointments to give a sense of belonging to all parts of the state.
Among those angling for the deputy governorship slot from the zone is a former House of Representatives aspirant, Engr. Kayode Adegbayo, who hails from Yagba East.
It would be recalled that Mr James Abiodun Faleke, the running mate to late Prince Abubakar Audu had declined being deputy to the newly inaugurated governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress has indicated it might get a replacement for Faleke if he continues to stand his ground.
