Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Awwal Imam has berated some APC stakeholders from the state calling for the probe of the state governor, Yahaya Bello, over alleged anti-party activities at the party’s national secretariat.

Imam who attributed the action of the selected APC leaders from the state to the governor’s refusal to ‘ascend’ to their godfatherism ego, and ‘pamper’ their high level of greed said the governor’s refusal to ‘submit’ the state to their control as had been done by past governors, bruised their ego, thus, the reason for their selfish attack against him.

Imam who stated this in Lokoja yesterday, said all those selected to head the probe panel were those confronting the state governor, especially the leader of the committee, Senator Dino Melaye, who has been attacking the governor for not allowing him to produce the Secretary to the State Government, Commissioners from the western district as well as members of the Local Government administrators.
According to him, “Melaye’s grudges started when he (Melaiye) asked the governor to allow him produce all local government caretakers from the district, which the governor refused. This action of the APC stakeholders in Abuja is never a surprise to us because their interest is how they will corner all the political appointments to themselves without considering the interest of other members of the party.
“It is laughable when someone who has been given the opportunity to produce the SSG of the state is still demanding for other positions as if he is the only member in the party.
“The same stakeholders have earlier claimed that they don’t recognised the Yahaya Bello’s led administration. We wondered why such people are busy in Abuja crying fowl over the lauded appointments made so far by the governor.
“In all fairness, the governor, without minding their actions, has approached them on several occasions for dialogue but their selfish interests could not allow them. Instead, they were out to pull the state down”.
However, the leader of the probe panel, Senator Dino Melaye has said that he is not in conflict with the governor but would prefer the governor to retrace his step and follow the right path.
Melaye who spoke through his Special Adviser on Media, Gideon Ayodele, said the activities of the governor runs contrary to the ethos of a true party man; the reason why the party is calling him to order. He said the governor through his disposition has shown that he lacks basic understanding of the state politics and needed to be guided on the right path before he plunges the party into disrepute.
“Senator Melaye has no personal grudges with the governor. If he (Bello) turns back and follows the right path, he will enjoy the highest esteem of the senator. The governor is treading on the wrong path, and there is the need to bring him back to reality”.
